To the editor:
On Oct. 1, 2008 our national debt was almost $500 billion. On Oct. 1, 2009 our national debt was $1.4 TRILLION. That is triple in one year thanks to Democrats, Republicans and some Independents. It costs $500 million to service that debt, mostly owned by foreign countries, every day! Let me write that down for you. $500,000,000!
Where does this money come from? Congress has no money. They only have what they are paid and what they can steal from lobbyists, campaign funds, etc. The money comes from taxes and not enough to service the debt. This is not only going to effect your grandchildren and your children. It is going to effect you and soon!
Do you have $100 in your pocket? I hope so. It is now worth less that half of what it was in 2005. That is why gold is well over $1,000 an ounce. Your money is worth so little that most countries want to go off the dollar standard when it comes to paying for oil. Congress will tell you that a weak dollar is good. It will make us more competitive around the world. Really? We do not manufacture anything anymore! Have you been to your local Saturn dealer lately or bought an American made TV, stereo, toaster or anything else in Wal-Mart or anywhere else that was made in America?
Here are a few more numbers for you as Floridians:
Sen. Bill Nelson 202-224-5274
Sen. George LeMieux 202-224-3041
Rep. Connie Mack 202-225-2536
I call them or at least e-mail them once a week. I am sure they would also love to hear from you. You must call and tell them not to pass another bill that adds to the national debt. If they can save $500 billion dollars in Medicare and Medicaid fraud, tell them to do that now!
If these people pass Cap and Trade, a healthcare bill with a public option that is estimated to cost another $900 billion, or do not curtail another stimulus package, we will cease to be the country you thought we would be for the rest of your life!
Finally. Let us go green. Recycle any politician that adds to the national budget on 11-2010!
