Police identify hit-and-run victim

A man killed by a hit-and-run driver as he walked near the intersection of Palm Beach Boulevard and Desoto Avenue eary Saturday morning has been identified as Martin Pastor-Yat, 27.
A relative has come forward and identified the victim with a passport, Fort Myers police said Sunday.
The fatal accident ocurred at 1:39 a.m. Pastor-Yat was crossing Palm Beach Boulevard and was struck in the westbound lanes. According to witnesses, the vehicle involved in the crash continued westbound, then made a quick u-turn and fled eastbound on Palm Beach passing the crime scene at a high rate of speed. The vehicle is described as a large box-style Nissan possibly an SUV. It is light in color, possibly white, beige or champagne and now has heavy damage to the front of the vehicle, according to a release from the Fort Myers Police Department.
The victim had a wallet but no identification, said officials, who appealed to the community Saturday for help in identifying the man. Police in find a receipt that showed he sent money to Guatemala.
