Cape Coral police arrested a man and a woman who allegedly burglarized a southeast Cape home belonging to the father of one of the suspects Saturday, according to reports.
Sean R. Rhien, 24, and 16-year-old Jessica Maria Pugliese, daughter of the alleged victim, were each charged with grand larceny of a firearm, armed burglary of a dwelling and theft $300 or more but less than $5,000 in the incident.
Rhien was additionally charged with driving on a suspended license.
Also present during the burglary was Pugliese’s mother, who did not enter the home or take anything, and has not been charged, according to police and jail documents.
According to police, Rhien drove a U-haul truck to the home of Pugliese’s father in the 1300 block of S.E. 19th Terrace at about 3:13 a.m. Pugliese’s father was not home at the time of the burglary.
Pugliese and her mother were passengers of the U-haul, arresting documents state.
Pugliese reportedly told police that when the three arrived at the home, Rhien and Pugliese entered through a window they had broken and removed approximately $2,125 worth of goods.
Pugliese opened a door to the home to remove a $600 Honda mini motorcycle that did not fit through the window, and as a result activated the home security alarm, she told officers.
Rhien, Pugliese and Pugliese’s mother left the home in the U-haul headed south on Del Prado Boulevard, where they were stopped and detained by police, reports said.
Pugliese’s father told police his daughter was not allowed in the home and had not lived there for 3 years. He also said he would like to press charges.
Among the stolen items in the U-haul was a black pickup truck bed tool box with various tools which were taken from a truck in a Fort Myers parking lot, police said.
Fort Myers Police were notified though a victim had not been located at the time of the report.
Pugliese was taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center in apparent good health, with bond set at $33,000, according to arresting documents.
Rhien was taken to the Lee County Jail, where he remained Monday evening on a combined $41,000 bond, state booking records.
