Please don’t feed hot dogs to wild birds
To the Editor:
I live in St. James City on 8th Avenue where we have an open pool (no cage).
Someone in this area is feeding birds hot dogs. They in turn regurgitate the hot dogs into our pool. While it isn’t a big deal for me to dive down and pick up the hot dogs, it is clearly not kind or caring to feed wild birds and make them sick.
Hot dogs have dubious food value for humans but are clearly not good for birds.
Birds eat fish, lizards and other bugs. If you, in fact, want to feed wild birds, please be caring, don’t make them ill and give them fish, not hot dogs.
