Thank you for supporting synchronized swimming
To the Editor:
Thank you Pine Island Pool. Pine Island Community and Lee County Parks for your support of Sunshine Synchro Splash.
Starting last September 2008 through May 2009, the Pine Island Pool allowed Sunshine Synchro Splash the use of the Pine Island Pool three nights a week.
The use of the Pine Island Pool made it possible for eight year-round synchronized swimmers to train for competition and eight recreational swimmers the opportunity to learn basic synchronized swimming skills.
All of the swimmers had a great time. We are all proud to have been a part of the first ever year round synchronized swimming program. We are honored that Pine Island Pool directors see the vision of Sunshine Synchro Splash.
Sunshine Synchro Splash synchronized swimmers could not have competed successfully at the 30th Annual Sunshine State Games without the support of the Pine Island Pool, Pine Island Community and Lee County.
Sunshine State Games was a blast this year!
This year, as I mentioned, was the 30th anniversary of The Sunshine State Games. Sunshine Synchro Splash synchronized swimmers can say they were a part of history!
Sunshine State Games is a very important place for future Olympians to get their start. In fact Tammy McGreggor (Clealand), a former Florida resident, was a participant in the Sunshine State Games. In 1996 she won the gold for the U.S. in the synchronized swimming team event.
Who knows your child could be the next Olympic synchronized swimmer from Florida!
The athletes from Sunshine Synchro Splash placed very well in their respective age group division and events.
Our youngest participant, at 7 years old, won the bronze in figures (out of 30 swimmers) and won the bronze in solo (out of 10 solos). We are all very proud of her achievements this year. And let me tell you, there is not much else that can surpass the look on a 7-year-old’s face when they receive a medal around their neck.
Priceless!
Our 13-15 duet swam in the tightest of competitions. The top three duets in the 13-15 novice division were separated by less then a half point. This included routine and figure scores. Our duet captured the bronze in the duet competition and both duet partners placed the top seven in figures. There were roughly 25-30 competitors in their division.
Great job girls!
Great job to the Sunshine Synchro Splash synchronized swimmers! You are on your way to great things!
Congratulations to all of the Sunshine State Games competitors.
Finally, thank you to the Florida Sports Foundation for their efforts to promote and facilitate the venue for this Olympic-type competition.
Sunshine Synchro Splash is honored to have been a part of the Olympic-type event and we look forward to attending next year.
