Business as usual
To the Editor:
It’s business as usual and it stinks! Pork barrel spending, closed door deals, crooked politicians, broken promises. And the people, as always, are suffering, losing confidence, feeling betrayed and a deep seated sadness. It appears as if the “powerful” in Washington have overwhelmed a young inexperienced president and succeeded in turning hope upside down. If we are to survive, the president needs to immediately put the brakes on to this thoughtless mad dash. At this point, we want to believe that Mr. Obama is well intentioned and sincere. He needs to step back, take a deep breath and refocus on the problems of America, his promises to the American people and whether his staff is undermining his declarations.
More than 8,000 pork barrel earmarks. Cabinet people who can’t be trusted by taxpaying citizens. “Old dogs,” who won’t consider new tricks, as his top advisor and being pushed around by the “wackos” in Congress that got us into this mess in the first place, before we wield totally out of control, there is still time to fix it.
Let’s start focusing on the people, not the politics, that’s our hope!
