Special to The Eagle Doreen and Frank Schooly, owners of Tropical Kitchens, and Judy Bicking, owner of Island Decor and More, stand in front of the new sign announcing a new display at Island Decor in Matlacha.

Samples of the products produced by the “Best of Pine Island” cabinet category winners can now be seen at Island Decor and More in Matlacha. A Tropical Kitchens and Baths display is now featured at the island’s landmark gift shop, which owner Judy Bicking said adds to the effort to offer customers items with tropical themes.

“It’s not easy finding these island-style accessories, but our customers know that we carry items that make perfect gifts or add that special sense of local fun to their Florida home,” said Bicking. “Our clients are looking for an island lifestyle and we are the perfect place to find home decor, gifts, art, accessories and now kitchen and bath cabinets.”

Bicking continued, “We now have a display of about six different bamboo cabinets and a collection of Tropical Kitchen cabinet doors, all exclusive designs not available anywhere else. We are proud to offer our clients these one-of-a-kind cabinets. It’s a natural extension of our unique design services.”

The owners of Tropical Kitchens also said that this is a natural fit for both businesses.

“We have a wonderful product but many people didn’t know where we are located so we decided we needed to be more visible in the community,” said Tropical Kitchens owner Frank Schooly. “We had approached Judy at Island Decor about allowing us to set up a display in her business and she agreed that it would be great for both of us.and we have found that it is in deed working for us both.”

The Schoolys have been manufacturing and installing custom kitchens on Pine Island since 2002 and have been voted Best of Pine Island for cabinets for the last four year. Cabinets can be ordered in traditional styles or the exclusive bamboo cabinets. The cabinets are built using the latest in computer-controlled machines and are manufactured in-house which helps to keep down the cost of the products produced by Frank Schooly. Specializing in remodel work, Schooly understands difficult layouts, small spaces and individual client preferences.

“We can build what the client needs instead of attempting to fit stock cabinets into their space,” said Schooly. “We offer better value than the big box stores and our lead times are shorter and personal design service makes a world of difference.”

With 35 years of custom cabinet experience, Schooly can build outdoor kitchens, entertainment centers, commercial cabinets and fixtures, garage cabinets, custom closets, bath cabinets, office and home office cabinets in addition to kitchen cabinets.
