Raymond Edward Everling
Raymond Edward Everling of Indianapolis, passed away March 15, 2009 in Ft. Myers, FL. He was born Jan. 11, 1932 in Elwood, IN to the late Harvey Herman Everling and Margaret Dren Everling.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Annette Templeton Everling, his daughters, Tina Everling, Beth Everling Smith (Michael), son Raymond Everling Jr., his stepdaughters, Michelle Wilkerson Darr, Charlene Belin Brown (Kevin), and Denise Belin McGehee (Bryan), his brother, Melvin Everling, and sister Marie Fulton, his 15 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Joan Zigmunt Maloney.
Raymond was a 1951 graduate of George Washington High School, Indianapolis, where he served as drum major in the marching band. He retired from Allisons Transmission where he worked for 37 years, first as a job setter, later a truck driver. His memberships included University Heights United Methodist Church, UAW Local #933, Speedway Conservation Club in Brown County, Speedway American Legion Post #500 (SAL), Brownsburg Masonic Lodge #241, National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association, Perry Township Democrat Club, St. James City Civic Association, Museum of the Islands, and Calusa Land Trust. Ray enjoyed family, music, cooking, gardening, fishing and shuffleboard in his retirement. He and Annette wintered in St. James City since 1997.
Calling is at Singleton Mortuary, 7602 Madison Ave., Indianapolis, IN. Thursday 3 – 8 p.m. and Friday morning 10-11 a.m. Funeral service at 11 a.m. at Singleton Mortuary. Memorial donations can be sent to Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis.
