Thanks from the Greater Pine Island Lions
To the Editor:
The Greater Pine Island Lions give thanks to our friends, and loyal business partners for participating in the “Mock Mayor” election fund-raiser of 2009.
One hundred percent of the proceeds of approximately $14,000 will be used for charitable purposes including eye exams, glasses and hearing aids for those who cannot afford them. In addition, we will be supporting children’s activities, maintaining our kiddies playground in St. James City, uniforms for Little League, Scouts programs and other worthy causes. We also support guide dogs for the blind and deaf, Friends of the Library, Calusa Land Trust, FISH and scholarships for Pine Island students, etc.
None of this could be accomplished without the dedicated business owners and candidates working together including Bert’s Bar/Deb Cole, Bernard Johnson, VFW 4353/Ethel Gilbert, Larry Guy, Luretta Williams Simms/Capt’n Con’s and Lois Polaski Mule’/Woody’s Waterside.
A special thank you to:
Ron and Ann Bokros, auctioneers extraordinaire who answered the call as they do every year. Marianne Paton, from the Pine Island Eagle for supporting our efforts, believing in our goals and informing the public.
We tip our hats to all of you for your continued support!
Vi Barrett
Lion President
