F.I.S.H. prepares for Christmas with brigade, golf tournament

2 min read

As of Thanksgiving Day, the FISH Basket Brigade list had 169 children and 33 individuals or couples on the Christmas list. Our thrifty shoppers spend hours pouring over the ads from various stores and they’re doing a great job finding quality gifts at low prices. The deadline for inclusion on the list is Thursday, Dec. 11. This is a firm deadline to provide time for additional purchases that might be required and subsequent assignment to families. If you have not applied you must do so by Dec. 11. Call Peg at 282-3874 or Mary Jo at 283-7862.

Finalization of the Christmas Brigade will take place at the Parish of Life Center of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church on the following dates: Thursday, Dec. 18; gift wrapping party and organization of the food baskets; Friday, Dec. 19, packing the boxes of food for each family; Saturday, Dec. 20, distribution of baskets. All activities will take place from 9 a.m. until noon. Volunteers are needed for all of these events.

In last week’s Eagle article, I failed to mention the remarkable turnout for the FISH Pantry breakfast held on Nov. 4. More than 400 tickets were sold, with all proceeds going to the pantry.

Additionally, Pine Island Elementary School and the German American Club conducted their annual holiday food drives to help stock the shelves and fill the Christmas baskets. Many thanks to them and other generous organizations or individuals who have also contributed.
