Police asking public to be alert for man

By Staff | Nov 10, 2008

The Cape Coral Police Department is asking residents to be on the lookout for a man who has been soliciting students from a vehicle.

At about 8:50 a.m., a 15-year-old boy who attends Diplomat Middle School, was walking to his bus stop when he was approached by a male in a vehicle. The boy stated that the male pulled up next to him and asked if he wanted a ride.

The boy told him “no.” The male rolled up the passenger window and left. The boy stated that the man circled the area and pulled up next to him again and asked him to perform a sexual act. The man left the area when the boy again told him “no” and warned him to leave.

The male is described as medium-skinned, heavy and 30 to 35 years of age, with short black hair and no facial hair.

He was wearing black gym shorts and a black T-shirt, with a watch and a silver necklace. The vehicle is a newer, four-door and is yellowish-beige in color. There is no tint and the vehicle possibly is a sporty Nissan-type.

This is the second incident involving a Cape student. On Oct. 28, a female student at Cape Coral High School was also approached by a male fitting the above description. The vehicle was also described in the same manner.

Both incidents occurred in the Pondella Road area.

If anyone sees anything suspicious regarding the man and the vehicle, call Crime Stoppers immediately at 800-780-TIPS.
