Resident questions Stringfellow paving project

May 9, 2018
Pine Island Eagle

To the editor:

I drove on Stringfellow Road yesterday and could not believe my eyes or what I was driving through. I read in the Eagle that a paving contractor [not what I would call them] was resurfacing Stringfellow Road. [not what I would call that].

Not to sure who in the Lee County Department of Transportation authorized this, but I'm sure they would not do it to the neighborhood they live in.

This is the low of lowest ways to resurface a road [and they had the guts to call it paving]. They have done nothing but screw up the whole road. The pot holes are still there, they did not take any of the dips or wash boarded areas out. All they had succeeded in doing is causing damage to people's cars/trucks from flying stones from the people that drive on this and will not slow down.

Putting tar on all the cars/trucks. It just boggles my mind that we have such county officials running our government with no regard of their constituents concerns or property to do something like this.

They quit doing this kind of resurfacing of roads decades ago, especially on a main road like Stringfellow. If this is how our tax dollars are being spent then I suggest we all quit paying our taxes. Again I can not emphasize how stupid this idea is.
