The 3rd annual Southwest Florida's Fish36, seven days of fishing and a scavenger hunt, will be held on June 2-9 at the German American Social Club of Cape Coral.

"The seven-day event is hosted by Nautical Mile Magazine," owner Jim Griffiths said. "The Fish36 is a unique annual fishing event for professional and non-professional anglers. Anglers who come together for a memorable week on the water while helping to develop entrepreneurial skills in our youth."

In a nutshell, anglers will spend seven days of fishing with friends and win raffle prizes for taking pictures of fish you catch. Participants will be turned loose on Saturday morning, June 2, with a list of 36 species of fish that can be caught in local waters.

Fish with a team, family and/or friends, and catch as many different species of fish as you can in a week. Fish where you like, with who you like, for an hour or all week long. You're given items that must appear in photos to show you caught the fish that week, and you'll get bonus tickets if a kid appears in at least half of your photos showing you took a kid fishing.

Entry fees are $100 per team to participate with an estimated $30,000 in raffle prizes.

"Put as many people on a team as you like, but know that you'll be sharing your winnings with your team," Griffiths said. "The fewer amount of people on a team, the more you can win individually. A raffle of this size takes a while so we make custom raffle tickets with your team number on them to speed things up. Event day is so exciting that even younger kids don't get bored."

Sponsors are being sought for the tournament/scavenger hunt.

"An event's cause is as important as your return on investment," Griffiths said. "For the last couple years I've volunteered in high school business classes designed around encouraging kids to understand the facets of a business. I'm currently working with a few kids that want to develop presentation skills and they'll be hosting this years event. They'll be making the announcements and running the prize raffle, and basically controlling a room of 500+ people! This year's Fish36 is funding the foundation for this project."

Some of the presenting sponsors are Fort Myers Marine, Diversified Yacht Services, Barnacle's Restaurant, Captain Rob's Bait & Tackle, TowBoatUS of Lee County, Lee County Sheriff's Office and Roger Dean Chevrolet.
