As a sweet Mother's Day weekend treat, the Pine Island Playhouse will present "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." The production is sponsored by CW Fudge.

"Who wouldn't want to join Charlie Bucket in his adventurous tour of Willy Wonka's world-famous Chocolate Factory," William Tidball, co-owner of CW Fudge, said.

"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" is a musical comedy based on the British novel written by Roald Dahl. A film of the same name was released in 2005. The story follows Charlie Bucket and four other contest winners as they are led through a tour of Willie Wonka's Chocolate Factory the most magnificent in the world.

"This is just a natural for CW Fudge." Tidball said. "The characters of Augustus Gloop, Violet Beauregarde, Veruca Salt, Grandpa George, Grandma Georgina, Willy Wonka and Charlie himself all come to life and discover the true meaning of teamwork, self-confidence and self-esteem."

Since its start in 2013, the Pine Island Playhouse has performed award-winning plays such as "Little Women," "A Christmas Carol," "Miracle Worker," "Frankenstein," "Miracle on 34th Street" and most recently "The Diary of Anne Frank."

"Of course there will be fudge," Tidball said. "CW Fudge will have a great assortment of chocolates, popcorn and salt water taffy. You'll also have an opportunity to win your own Golden Ticket to the CW Fudge Factory in Matlacha! The delicious world of fudge and Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory awaits you!"
