LCMC landing pad should go elsewhere

March 28, 2018
Pine Island Eagle

To the editor:

I think that the planned landing pad for LCMC helicopters and their reasons for procuring the land on the Island side of the sound are spurious.

There is plenty or land for such a landing pad only 1,000 yards to the east on the other side of the sound, much of it already governmentally owned. There would be no reason to send trucks with concentrate chemicals, ground crews, pilots and mechanics across our already crowded bridges. It probably would be more economical and safer to operate from the Cape Coral side; but rarely do bureaucrats worry about such mundane matters with our tax dollars.

We need to offer solutions, maybe they will listen.

We also need help from a County Commissioner that would lend his or her support and influence to get this project relocated!
