Bokeelia Neighborhood Crime Watch

March 21, 2018
Pine Island Eagle

To the editor:

After much work, I am happy to announce that the first senior seminar, sponsored by NEXTDOOR, Beth Schnell and LCSO Crime Prevention Practitioner, Michelle Sargis, is coming to the island.

The seminar will be held at The Fishers of Men Lutheran Church ?Wednesday, April 4,? at ?3 p.m.?

The Topics: Frauds, Scams & Cons (Warning signs & Prevention)

As the Coordinator of the Bokeelia Neighborhoods Watch, I've worked hard to make the locations of these seminars more convenient for those wanting to attend, as most are held down in Fort Myers. Hopefully this will be the first of many. I hope you will attend and enjoy Michelle's presentation. (Please bring a water or non-alcoholic beverage for yourself)

Awareness is the key to preparedness, which is the key to safety - whether to your personal selves or your bank accounts. We are working hard to keep you informed via safety seminars.

Though titled seminars for seniors, you don't need to be a senior citizen to attend or to learn and protect yourselves.

Again, I've heard that Michelle does a phenomenal seminar.

Michelle and I both have reached out to the newest captain on the island, LCSO Capt. Mike Rakestraw. We are hoping he pops his head in for a quick "hello."

Though Pastor Roger is not charging me for the use of the church, if anyone would care to make a small donation for his kindness, it would be greatly appreciated.

Lori DePalma,

BNCW Coordinator
