Lynn Edwards

March 7, 2018
Pine Island Eagle

Lynn Edwards passed away on February 24, 2018. His friends knew him as Lennie. He lived on Pine Island for over 30 years. Lynn considered the community his home and his friends as his family. He was known by his outgoing personality and his big heart.

Born in Canton, Ohio on January 31, 1944 Lynn grew up in Westerville, Ohio. He graduated from Georgia Military Academy in 1962 and attended Georgia Tech. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1964 and served in the U.S. and Japan. After leaving the Air Force he briefly lived in Louisiana and Ohio before moving to Florida.

Lynn never knew a stranger. Although suffering from disabling arthritis, he was always positive. His answer to how he felt was an enthusiastic, "Fantastic!" and his "Happy Happy, Joy Joy" greeting was unmistakable. Lynn was involved in local activities and cared deeply about his neighbors and friends. They helped him in unselfish ways and have continued with great kindness.

Lynn will be missed by his brother Jim and his wife Sharon, along with his nephew Mike and his wife Tiffany and their children Isaac, Grace and Eve. Mike, Tiffany and the children joined Lynn last year for Thanksgiving which Lynn said it was "his best ever".

Lynn cared deeply about his friends and the Pine Island community. He will be missed. An informal get together will occur in April at the Low Key Tiki to remember his life.
