N ew Year's Eve revelers have a wealth of options in the Cape - there are three big events happening in the city Sunday, featuring food, fireworks and fun.

Some are free and one even features a ball drop.

The South Cape New Year's Eve Trolley Event , Fathom's at Cape Harbour and Gather at Tarpon Point each will hold celebrations for those looking to ring in the New Year .

For the New Year's Eve Trolley Event, put on by the South Cape Hospitality and Entertainment Association, guests will travel to 11 locations in the Cape Coral Entertainment District and enjoy a specialty drink for $2.50 at each place. These locations will feature live music, dancing and midnight toasts.

Guests will get a pair of 2018 light-up glasses, can win prizes such as gift cards, and can win a grand prize for getting passports stamped at all 11 locations, including a gift basket with a bottle of Dom Perignon.

Check-ins for the 21-and-older event will be open from 7 p.m. -8:30 p.m., at Big John Plaza and Dixie Roadhouse. Late check-in will be open from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at Dixie Roadhouse.

Advance tickets are $10 and can be purchased online via Eventbrite or at participating locations. Designated driver tickets are also $10 and available at Backstreets. Locations will have complimentary non-alcoholic beverages.

As of Thursday afternoon, tickets were almost sold out, so organizers urge those planning to attend to purchase any remaining now.

Meanwhile, at the city's two major resort hotels, there will be similar events put on by their respective flagship restaurants.

After featuring holiday treats all month, Gather at Tarpon Point, which opened in late October, will end 2017 with fireworks over the Caloosahatchee River so people can arrive by boat or by car.

Gather, which is owned by the same people who own Fathom's, will offer a more open menu, as well as breakfast after the fireworks are over just after midnight.

"We're going to have some menu items as well as special items. It will mostly be business as usual. We will have free past appetizers and free champagne from 11 to midnight," said Jeremy Vincent, general manager at Gather. "We believe there will be a lot of people here."

There will be drink specials, champagne, bottle service and DJ German Garcia pumping up the beat starting at 8 p.m. The event is free for revelers.

At Cape Harbour, New Years Eve celebrants at Fathom's can look forward to an elegant, inventive take on surf and turf to kick off their New Year's Eve celebration and then cap the festivities by watching the ball drop from the Cape Harbour Marina complex.

Fathom's will offer three seatings, at 5:30 p.m. , 7:45 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., with reservations required for each. The four-course menu is $75 per person. Those planning to attend are urged to check for availability.

There will be a fixed menu that night, Maine lobster bisque will be paired with a seared lobster cake accompanied by Meyer lemon creme fraiche and crostini topped with the beloved French spread, rouille.

Surf and turf, represented by braised sterling silver beef short ribs and grilled sugar cane shrimp skewers, will be elevated by black truffle whipped potatoes, red burgundy demi-glace and serrano-wrapped asparagus.

A special Norman Love Confections New Year's Eve dessert will be offered with a glass of champagne.

Live music from local party band Soapy Tuna, a midnight ball drop between the two condo towers and fireworks overlooking the marina top off the experience to ring in 2018.

There will be two food trucks for those who want to partake in the fun without dinner at Fathom's. The event is free for anyone who wants to come.

"It's one of the great events that doesn't have a cost to it. The fireworks will be spectacular," said Tim Hoffman, who owns both restaurants as well as the French Press, another event sponsor. "There will be ample lit parking for the event and lots of security so you can bring the kids."

Fathoms Restaurant & Bar is at 5785 Cape Harbour Drive.

Gather at Tarpon Point is at 5971 Silver King Blvd.
