September programs at the library

Pine Island Eagle

Next month's roster of activities at Pine Island Public Library offers topics for all ages.

The following activities are free to the public:

Adult Programs

September Card Crafting

9:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 2

Creating a special greeting card is fun. Participants will learn new paper crafting techniques and designs, and make several cards to take home. All materials supplied. Sponsored by Friends of the Pine Island Public Library. Registration is required.

Kumihimo Craft Class

9:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 23

Learn the basics of Kumihimo, a traditional Japanese braiding technique. All materials supplied to craft your own special bracelet to take home. Registration is required.

September Beadwork

9:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 30

Participants will learn beading techniques to craft a special item to take home. All materials supplied. Sponsored by Friends of the Pine Island Public Library. Registration is required.

Storytime

Family Storytime

11 a.m., Tuesdays, Sept. 5, 12, 19, 26

Your whole family is invited to this enjoyable, all-ages storytime that encourages the development of prereading skills through songs, rhymes, fingerplays and stories. An age appropriate craft or activity will be provided following the storytime.

Children's Programs

Kids Read Down Fines

1-4 p.m., Saturdays, Sept. 2, 9, 16, 23, 30

4-7 p.m. ,Wednesdays, Sept. 6, 13, 20, 27

Children and teens can earn a $2 credit for every 15 minutes they read in the designated area for a total of $8 in one session. Credit may be applied to cards issued to patrons age 18 and under only and applies only to charges on overdue materials.

Friday Fun Storytime

1 p.m., Friday, Sept. 15

Fridays are a fun day at the library. Join us as we read aloud a fun, family-friendly picture book and participate in an easy end of week activity.

Teen Screen

3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20

Join us at our big screen for a fun and exciting blockbuster hit. All are welcome for this free movie viewing.
