Surveillance cameras catch vandalism at Matlacha businesses

July 19, 2017
By ED FRANKS ( , Pine Island Eagle

At approximately 2:12 a.m. today, two businesses in Matlacha were vandalized. Shortly afterward William Tidball, co-owner of CW Fudge, received a phone call that several windows in his store were broken.

"It appeared that there was no entry but several windows were smashed," Tidball said. "Two windows at CW Fudge and one at Perfect Cup. The police were here when I arrived. I was told the person was on surveillance video and was arrested.

"This is a small island, a fishing community and an artist community, and I never thought anything like this could happen. I only hope and pray that whoever did this gets the help that he needs."
