Thanks to all who made Matlacha Hookers' annual wine tasting event a success

To the editor:

The chairs of the 5th Annual Wine Tasting Event of the Matlacha Hookers just wanted to send out a big thank you for all of the behind-the-scenes help for our event!

We would not have been able to make this our biggest wine event thus far, if it had not been for the wonderful donations and hard work provided by people and businesses such as C.W. Fudge in Matlacha, William and Carlos are amazing with their dedication to helping not only the Hookers events, but also many other charities and fundraisers on the island. All of the delicious sweets that were enjoyed by our guests were made and donated by them. DFW wines, Rob Kiernan always donates and arranges beautiful selections of wines for our guests to taste. Sandy Peculis with Castaway Realty makes our event even more unique by donating the ice sculptures for the champagne toast, and Mel Meo, who brings her Island flair through her artwork and donates a special piece of art that is centered on the theme of the event.

No one could forget the wonderful businesses who help donate food for the delicious bites that we enjoy during the event such as Publix, Walmart, and, of course, our very own island businesses such as Little Lilly's deli and Miceli's restaurant.

We are indebted to the Alden Pines Golf Course for letting use us their facilities for the last four years for our wine tasting events.

This year we were able to exceed our goals for the Beacon of HOPE's Senior Programs and we want to thank our guests who bought tickets and came and bid on our silent auction baskets and all of the dozens of businesses and people who helped us along the way. We thank you our Island friends and invite you to join us again next year.

Nancy Chandler, Darlene Widirstky and Julia Simpson
