Pine Island businesses preparing for Small Business Saturday

November 23, 2016
Special to the Eagle , Pine Island Eagle

Small Business Saturday is Nov. 26 and island businesses have pulled out all the stops to ensure islanders get all the advantages.

This special Saturday is dedicated to supporting local businesses that create jobs, boost the economy and preserve neighborhoods around the country. Small Business Saturday was created by American Express in 2010 in response to small business owners' most pressing issue: getting more customers.

Every year, consumers who "Shop Small" make a significant impact on their local economies. According to the 2015 Small Business Saturday Consumer Insights Survey, approximately 95 million Americans shopped on Small Business Saturday last year.

On Pine Island, Olde Florida Outpost teamed up with Island Conclave Fine Art Gallery and Marketing Mania Inc. to make an impact this year by reaching out to businesses to encourage them to offer customers a great selection of deals, promotions, raffles, free merchandise and services to showcase what the island has to offer. And they did just that!

This Saturday, events and offerings include: a $250 shopping spree at Olde Florida Outpost, free mini classes and free memberships at Island Girl Fitness and from Island Yoga of Pine Island, an Arts & Crafts Fair at Island Conclave Fine Art Gallery, $15 gift certificates from Bert's Pine Bay Gallery with minimum purchase, a free gift with the purchase of $50 or more at Island Visions, Mel Meo Studio will be cooking up some smoked mullet for you, Sweeney's SOS is raffling off a $50 gift basket, and Artist, Rachi Farrow will be exhibiting in her brand new Rolling Wonder Clean Water Gallery at Olde Florida Outpost.

Olde Florida Outpost & Island Conclave Fine Art Gallery will serve as the "Welcome Stations" where shoppers can pick up a free shopping tote, a "Things to Do Map" and discount coupons to other area businesses. They'll also assist islanders in directions to participating businesses.
