August 3, 2016
By ED FRANKS ( , Pine Island Eagle

Christine Wiederhold, the receptionist at Buzzy Phillips Raymond James office, has passed the "Series 7" test and has received her securities license. Her new title will be registered client service manager.

According to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, "Individuals who want to enter the securities industry to sell any type of securities must take the Series 7 examination. Individuals who pass the Series 7 examination are eligible to register to trade all securities products, including corporate securities, municipal fund securities, options, direct participation programs, investment company products, and variable contracts."

Wiederhold has been in the financial field for over 10 years and in customer service for over 20 years. She and her husband, Dan, moved to Pine Island from Michigan in 2006 and Wiederhold has worked with Buzzy Phillips since, first at Edward Jones and since 2008 at Raymond James.

"This is a very difficult test for anybody," Phillips said. "Christine worked very hard for a long time to accomplish this and I'm very proud of her."

Originally from Rochester, Mich., Wiederhold and her family moved to Mexico City when she was in the 6th grade.

"My father was in the automotive industry working for General Motors when we moved," Weiderhold said. "I spent my junior high school years there from 7th through 9th grades before moving back to Michigan where I graduated high school."

After college, Wiederhold began working for an engineering company in Michigan where she met her husband.

"He worked in the same building and that's how we met," Wiederhold said. "I had family in Naples and his parents were here on Pine Island so whenever we came to Florida we'd spend some time with both sets of parents. That's how I learned about Pine Island."

In 2006, Wiederhold, her husband, two dogs and a cat moved to Pine Island.

"A month after moving here I interviewed for the receptionist job with Buzzy for branch office administrator at Edward Jones," Wiederhold said. "During the interview, Buzzy and I had an argument about the spelling of a word but Buzzy hired me anyway."

"In April of 2013, Chris obtained her insurance license," Phillips said. "I believe it was that experience that instilled in her the desire to become registered. I know Chris worked long and hard for this certification."

"I studied the books for about a year before taking the class," Wiederhold said. "The class was one week long and I took the test immediately afterward. It was a relief when I passed."

"Of course, you can expect the same service and personal attention from Chris and me that you have always received at Raymond James," Phillips said. "Your financial future is as important to us as it is to you.

The Raymond James office is at 10571 Stringfellow Road, just north of The Center.
