Pete and Melissa Marsala, owners of Pine Island Pizza, have made it a practice to donate the store's monthly tips to an island charity. This month, the Pete Marsala presented a check to the Matlacha/Pine Island Fire Control District.

"We want to present this check for $1,345 to the Matlacha Pine Island Fire Control District," Marsala said. "They do a really great job and we appreciate the great job they do. We would like this money to be used for educational tools."

"The department really appreciates all that the Marsala's do for the community," Deputy Chief Benjamin Mickuleit said, accepting the check. "And we really enjoy the food."
