Low Key Tiki annual Song Writer's Festival scheduled for June 13

Low Key Tiki will hold its 4th Annual Rock On the Dock Song Writer's Festival Saturday, June 13, from 1-6 p.m.

"The original thought behind this four years ago was to let people hear some original music from the talent we have here on the island," said Scott Adams, owner of Low Key Tiki. "This is our fourth time doing this event. It's composed of about 10 to 15 musicians singles, duos and trios mostly because it takes less time to set up. That way we have more time when music is playing. Each musician plays for about 15 to 20 minutes and the total event will be from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m."

The list of musicians that have signed up for the Song Writers Fest are Pat McCune, Jack Mosley, Gary & Kerri, Wayne Taylor, Mickey Basel (Grammy winner), The Neighbors, Native Kid, Bruce Eddy, Jimmy Doyle & Roger Noss, Paul Roush, Irish John, Lorren Davidson, Doug Card, Dave Ross, Silver, Dave Heveron and Corky & Jimmy Lewis. (All subject to change).

"Gary Harvey from Gary & Kerr is coordinating the music," Adams said. "We encourage people to bring lawn chairs but no coolers please."

"There is something extremely different about the listeners on Pine Island. They'll let you know they don't like what you're playing but the support and the loyalty are unlike anyplace I've ever played," Harvey said. "This event has been a huge success. Every year it gets bigger and better and I'm just happy to be a part of it."

"It's gives us an opportunity to honor the singer/songwriters here," Adams said "We have a lot of talent here and this type of event allows them to show it off. Several of the musicians that performed last year will be back this year. It's just a great summer kick-off event and a fun time for everyone."
