Lawrence Dewey Jackson passed away in Aurora, Colorado on Saturday, May 2, 2015. He was born in Potsdam, New York on January 13, 1924 and lived in the Brasher/Winthrop area until the age of 60. He was the son of Clarence and Helen Jackson, both deceased. His wife of 65 years, Betty C. Perry passed away in 2011 and his son, Gary, died in a hunting accident about a year prior to that. He is survived by his daughters Sandi, Debbie, and Jennifer (daughter-in-law), four grandchildren, Christine, Larry, Willie Hammill, and Chris Pettibone, many great grandchildren and many other family members. Larry graduated from Brasher-Stockholm High School, entered the U.S. Army and served during World War II in China, Burma, and India in the infantry. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Medal and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. In October of 2013, he moved to Colorado from Bokeelia, FL, to be with his daughters during the last year and a half of his life. During his lifetime, he enjoyed fly fishing, fly tying, and furniture making. He built his own home with the assistance of his father-in -law and also had large vegetable gardens for many years. Lawrence and his wife Betty enjoyed spending time with friends and he will be greatly missed. He will be memorialized at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 1630 Pine Island Road, Cape Coral, Florida.
