Island Exchange Realty opens at the Center

Jay R. Johnson, broker, has opened Island Exchange Realty, LLC in the turquoise building located at the 4-way stoat the Center. He has owned property on Pine Island since 1981 and he has been a Realtor here for 22 years, having established a large networking group.

Robert Solomon, agent and office manager, along with agent Jonna Bouchard comprise the rest of the team. Both are experienced Pine Island Realtors.

One benefit offered is a 5 percent commission plan for many properties listed through Island Exchange Realty.

Johnson is a member of many organizations that continue to expand his knowledge of the current real estate market. They include the Board of Realtors, Commercial Investment Professionals of SW Florida, past president (2011-2012) and past vice-president of the Greater Pine Island Chamber of Commerce, Horizon Council as a member of the Lee County Economic Development Department and as a board member of the Lee County Land Development and Zoning Advisory Committee, past vice-president of the Greater Pine Island Civic Association with memberships in the Matlacha Mariners, Calusa Land Trust and St. James City Civic Association.

Johnson is a graduate of Fort Myers High School, Edison Community College and Florida Atlantic University. His professional career in sales includes employment with IBM Corporation, Control Data Corporation, Knowledgeware Inc. and Coastal Computer Corporation and he has received numerous awards for his outstanding sales accomplishments. He is a recipient of the Five Star Realtors award. He is also an owner and managing partner of Knolls Court Motel in Matlacha and the Island Exchange Retail Center.

Bouchard is a transplant from the South Shore of Boston. Her love of boating, fishing and sunshine is what brought her here over 10 years ago.

She s a graduate of Weymouth High School and Quincy College. In addition to raising her two daughters on her own, she spent many years employed by the Hingham School Department and the South Shore Educational Collaborative working with emotionally and behaviorally challenged adolescents. She is a member of the Greater Fort Myers Board of Realtors, and the Matlacha Hookers. She is an accredited buyer's representative and is also a graduate of the Florida Master Naturalists Program.

Solomon is a native of Staten Island, N.Y., coming to Florida for several years as a "snowbird" and in 1999, built a home in Southwest Florida which he eventually sold. Pine Island had always been the place he wanted to live, and that became possible in January, 2010, where he has once again built a custom home.

As a real estate professional since 2003, Solomon knows and understands the area well. He enjoys fishing and held a 100-ton master's License from the U.S. Coast Guard.

Back in New York, he was self-employed as a liquor store and deli owner, and also owned a limousine and bus company. He is also a seven-year veteran of the U.S. Navy.

The three invite all of their new and past customers to visit the new office and review the local real estate market.
