LIHEAP at Beacon of H.O.P.E. extended to March 30

February 24, 2015
By ED FRANKS (efranks@breezenewspapers.com) , Pine Island Eagle

The Low-Income Home Energy Assis-tance Program is being offered at the Beacon of H.O.P.E on Mondays until March 30. LIHEAP helps low-income families with electric costs.

Depending on the funds available in the county, residents may be able to apply for help up to three times a year. The program cannot pay for water, sewer and telephone services. The local agency provider makes the payments directly to your utility company on your behalf.

Maximum household income limits: 1 person in household ($17,505), 2 people in household ($23,595), 3 people in household ($29,685), 4 people in household ($35,775), 5 people in household ($41,865), 6 people in household ($47,955), 7 people in household ($54,045), 8 people in household ($60,135). For each person over 8 add $6,090.

Applicants must register by calling the Beacon of H.O.P.E. at 239-283-5123. Those that register must be at the Beacon at 9 a.m. on the day they registered for. There will be a representative from Lee County Human Services on each Monday to take the applications.

Beacon of H.O.P.E. is at 5465 Pine Island Road, #1, in Bokeelia. The coordinator of community programs is Joanne Merritt, joannem@beaconofhopepineisland.com
