Theater-goers should mark their calendars for Friday, Feb. 27, Saturday, Feb. 28 and Sunday March 1. The Beacon of H.O.P.E.'s Pine Island Playhouse will present "James and the Giant Peach" by Ronald Dahl and adapted by David Wood.

The performances will be at the United Methodist Church.

"This is going to be a really magical, fun show for people of all ages," Nichole Pichon, artistic director, said. "I am so excited and thankful to PIUMC for allowing us to use their stage for this show. The cast ranges in age from 8 to 60-year-olds. It's amazing working with such talented people on the island."

The story "James and the Giant Peach" is about an orphaned boy named James who encounters some magic that changes his life. A giant peach grows, he befriends several giant insects and sails away from England to America. This is one for everyone on the island to come check out. As always the show is free to the public but Pine Island Playhouse happily accept donations after the performance.

"James and the Giant Peach" is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
