February 10, 2015
By ED FRANKS ( , Pine Island Eagle

The Matlacha Hookers will present "Mardi Gras Madness" Sunday, Feb. 22, at Alden Pines Country Club. The proceeds will benefit the Beacon of H.O.P.E. Seniors Program.

The assistance will help in areas such as medical deductibles, Meals on Wheels, rent, water and phone, mammograms, lab work and prescriptions, dental care, food cards for in-between food stamps, support for grandparents who have to become parents, gas money for interviews and doctor appointments; property taxes, personal hygiene products, renew drivers license and senior events, such as balance, memory, health insurance and end of life care.

The event will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

"There will be wine for tasting and New Orleans-style cuisine," Tina Bush said. "We will also have king cakes, chocolates, a silent auction, mystery wine raffle and live jazz music. Also, hand-painted Mardi Gras wine glasses. We encourage you to wear your best Mardi Gras attire."

Tickets are $25 in advance or at the door and are available at Stonegate Bank, The Beacon of H.O.P.E. and CW Fudge Factory. You must be 21 or older to attend.

Last year the event raised $8,000 for the Beacon of H.O.P.E. in a three-hour time period!
