LIHEAP at Beacon of H.O.P.E. beginning Monday

January 20, 2015
By ED FRANKS ( , Pine Island Eagle

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) will be at the Beacon of H.O.P.E for four consecutive Mondays beginning Jan. 26. LIHEAP helps low-income families with electric costs.

Depending on the funds available in local counties, residents may be able to apply for help up to three times a year through LIHEAP.

The program can not pay for water, sewer and telephone services. The local agency provider makes the payments directly to your utility company on your behalf.

According to LIHEAP guidelines, maximum household income limits: one person in household ($17,505), two people in household ($23,595), three people in household ($29,685), four people in household ($35,775), five people in household ($41,865), six people in household ($47,955), seven people in household ($54,045) or eight people in household ($60,135). For each person over eight, add $6,090.

Applicants must register by calling the Beacon of H.O.P.E. at 239-283-5123. Those that register must be at the Beacon at 9 a.m. on the day they registered for.

There will be a representative from Lee County Human Services on each Monday to take the applications.

The Beacon of H.O.P.E. is at 5465 Pine Island Road, #1, Bokeelia. Call 239-283-5123 for additional information.
