Quentin Bill Fredisdorf

Quentin Bill Fredisdorf, 85, died peacefully among family members on September 2, 2014, in Cape Coral. "Bill" as he was lovingly called, was born on April 12, 1929, in Berlin, Wis., to Edward and Frances Fredisdorf. He resided with his parents and sister, Wanda, on a farm near Berlin until adulthood. He was an avid boxer winning the YMCA's "quickest knockout" trophy award. On Jan. 1, 1950, he married LaVerne Kusserow of New London, Wis. Bill and La Verne enjoyed 64 years of marital bliss.

Surviving children include Mark, Wanda and Scott. He is also survived by daughter-in-law Yoshiko (wife of Mark) and granddaughter Gia.

He was predeceased by his eldest daughter, Paula.

In 1952 and 1953, Mr. Fredisdorf earned the rank of corporal in the United States Army serving in the Korean War. From 1954 until 1984, he worked for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections in Waupun, Wis., earning the rank of supervisor and captain. He and LaVerne retired to Pine Island in 1984 where he was an active member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. His wife LaVerne remains a Florida resident.

He will always be remembered as a loving and dedicated husband; compassionate father; and trustworthy friend to many.

Any person who had a relationship with Bill as spouse, child or friend had a better life as a result.

A commemorative service will be held at Sterling House, 1416 Country Club Blvd., Cape Coral, Thursday, Sept. 18 at 4:30 p.m.
