Neighbor cleans up fisherman's mess

July 2, 2014
Pine Island Eagle

To the editor:

A neighbor, Ken Dupert, took care of a disgusting job June 26. He took two garbage bags and after a struggle got a dead 3-foot shark into the bags. The garbage men picked it up Friday.

This effort ridded the corner of Marina Drive and Stringfellow Road of this poor, slowly decaying shark that the vultures would not even clean up.

Apparently a great fisherman decided not to return this poor shark to the sea and instead dumped the shark just a few feet off Marina Drive at the corner near the sidewalk on Stringfellow.

It is a shame this fisherman, who took such sport in catching this shark, unceremoniously dumped it on the side on the road and created a mess for others to deal with.

Thank you Ken for disposing of this poor creature and after a few rains, we will have clean air back in the neighborhood.
