‘Rock on the Dock’ Song Writer’s Fest a great success

They came by boat, they came by car, they came by bicycle and they even came by golf cart to Low Key Tiki's "Rock on the Dock" Song Writer's Festival Saturday.

"This has turned out to be a perfect day," Low Key owner Scott Adams said. "The weather is cooperating, the music is great and people are having a great time.

"Every artist is playing original material," Adams said. "We have singles, duos and trios. It just takes a little too long for a complete band to set up so we limit it so we have more time listening to music instead of setting up."

One of the artists was Renn Loren from Hawaii by way of Punta Gorda. "He plays the island frequently," Adams said.

Loren has his very own unique brand of "honky tonk-tiki rock" music which combines elements of island style, country, Latin, Americana, Caribbean, Cajun and Tex-Mex all blended up into one rockin' tequila-drenched, sun-soaked country-beach-rock sound that is highly dance and party-friendly.

Ben and Jennifer McKnight traveled from Cape Coral to listen to the music.

"This guy is great," Jennifer McKnight said of Loren. "We've come out to the island a few times since we moved here last year from Detroit and I think the music on Pine Island is unbelievable. I think we've been to every place with live music on the island and Renn Loren is one of my favorites."

"Every year we've done this event it gets bigger and better," said Kerri of the duo Gary and Kerri. "This is our third year and we have a packed house. Gary does all of the production and I do the emceeing. People sure are having a great time."
