Two accused in marijuana grow operation

A bust of an alleged marijuana grow house in Cape Coral resulted in two arrests Thursday.

At about 7 p.m., the Cape Coral Police Department served a search warrant at 51 N.W. 33rd Terrace, according to officials. Inside, police found a large-scale operation being conducted out of the residence. Half of the home, including the garage, had been converted into a climate-controlled grow operation.

A total of 84 plants were recovered by police - a total weight of about 151 pounds. Officials reported that the total street value of the seized drugs is estimated to be between $175,000 and $200,000.

Two people, including the owner of record, were taken into custody.

Jorge Felix Brito, 29, and Adyanez Martinez-Izquierdo, 26, both of 51 N.W. 33rd Terrace, were arrested and charged with one count each of marijuana traffick excess of 25 pounds or 300 plants or more and drugs traffick possess structure vehicle know traffick drugs, jail booking records state.

As of Friday, both had been released from the Lee County Jail on $35,000 bond each.

Brito and Martinez-Izquierdo have court appearances scheduled for July 7.
