Temple Beth Shalom to honor veterans at special service

May 14, 2014
Pine Island Eagle

Friday night, May 23, Temple Beth Shalom of Cape Coral will hold a special and unique service. In honor of Memorial Day, that regular service will be dedicated to the Jewish War Veterans Post 400 here in Lee County.

The service is open to the public and all veterans are invited to attend.

Not only will the veterans be honored, but there is a graduating class running the service. This class of 13 adults (coincidentally the "age" of a Bar/Bat Mitzvah) range in age from the 50 80 age bracket.

Rabbi Buchen has been coaching these students all year in becoming "people of the covenant," a ritual of adulthood that for some is a re-dedication, and for others, it is their first time.

The service runs from 7:30-10 p.m.

Temple Beth Shalom is at 702 S.E. 24th Ave., Cape Coral. For additional information about the temple or the service, call 772-4555.
