To the editor:
The eyes of the world were focused upon the Ukraine/Crimea situation watching to see what strong action the U.S would begin to put in place. For the citizens of the Ukraine no knight in shining armor upon a white charger was seen on the horizon. Sometime, much later than any effective measure could be brought to bear, Obama showed up dressed as a clown and riding on a hobby horse.
The beacon of liberty was but a shameful dim glimmer that attempted to light the path for the clown. Putin picked the low hanging fruit that is the Crimea. Why? Because he knew he could. The promises of the West to protect the integrity of the Ukraine's borders in return for the Ukraine surrendering their nuclear weapons were forgotten.
And so now, we can compare Obama to Don Quixote. This time Don Quixote looks like Genghis Khan.
Should the music be, for the charge of the hobby horse "send in the clown?"
Perhaps Obama will take up playing the fiddle; after all there is the rest of Eastern Europe still available.
