Helping Paws to host first live, silent auction

April 2, 2014
By ED FRANKS ( , Pine Island Eagle

On April 8, Pine Island's Helping Paws Animal Sanctuary will hold its first live and silent auction. All proceeds from the auction will benefit Helping Paws Animal Sanctuary, a 501(c)3 non-profit, no kill shelter, that houses almost 200 healthy cats and kittens.

At Helping Paws, the cats are housed in rooms, not cages, waited on by loving volunteers. These cats are provided toys and even TVs with cat and fountain videos. The goal at thew shelter is not only to find the cats homes, but to provide a home for the shelter cats.

The "Live and Silent" auction will take place at Anthony's on the Boulevard on Del Prado Boulevard in Cape Coral. Some items up for auction are a trip to Africa, hot air balloon rides, local get-a-ways, Beatles First American Tour collage, Dan Marino-autographed Miami Dolphins helmet, jewelry, gift certificates and lots more.

Check-in is between 5 and 6:30 p.m., along with dinner and the silent auction. At 7, the live auction will take place and the evening will conclude with an "After Party at 8 p.m. There will also be music on the patio from Yard Dog Charlie from 6-9.

Tickets are $20 at the door or $15 in advance online or at the shelter.
