KOA presents check to Pine Island Fire Department

March 26, 2014
By ED FRANKS ( ) , Pine Island Eagle

The Pine Island KOA recently presented a check to the Pine Island Fire Department.

"We collect this money during the month of February," Kent Howard said. "The truck is parked outside the office and people donate a dollar, $5 or whatever they can afford. This money comes mostly from the KOA membership and money from people coming and going in the short term." In making the presentation, Howard went on to say, "We raise these funds because we appreciate the work the fire department does. I would like to present the Pine Island Fire Department with this check for $1,128."

"This is an ongoing tradition for many, many years. Every year, for many years, KOA has been raising funds for the Pine Island Fire Department," Chief Joseph Marzella said. "And I can't tell you how much we appreciate their efforts."
