The Pine Island Garden Club will feature Wesley E. Higgins, Ph.D. as its speaker for the Thursday, March 20, meeting. He has a bachelors degree in botany and a Ph.D. in horticulture science, both from the University of Florida.
He is vice president and on the board of directors of the Lakes Park Enrichment Foundation and heads the Botanical Garden Committee. The foundation is dedicated to the restoration of Lakes Park to a native Florida wildlife environment.
His presentation will be about the Lakes Park complex, located at 7330 Gladiolus Drive, in Fort Myers, and the work of the foundation in assisting Lee County in implementing the Park Master Plan.

Monthly Garden Club meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at the Fishers of Men Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10360 Stringfellow Road, and begin at 9 a.m. with coffee and refreshments followed by the guest speaker's presentation and finishing up with a brief member's business meeting.
