'Bark in the Park' set for April 5 at SJCCA

March 5, 2014
Pine Island Eagle

Mark your calendars for "Bark in the Park" Saturday, April 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the St. James City Civic Association Center in St. James City.

This pet event will be primarily for Pine Islanders: their dogs, cat people and anyone interested in pets.

Cats will be included via attending humane groups, vendors and veterinarians, but not allowed, as this event is primarily outdoors and there will be lots of dogs. Humane groups will bring cats and dogs available for adoption.

There will be various outdoor demonstrations and indoor seminars, including agility, fly-ball, pet massage, obedience training and Canine Good Citizen.

There will be different dog contests, including best trick, smallest dog, largest dog, best costume and pet/person look-alike.

Attendees will be asked to bring unopened pet food for local food banks and animal shelters. Food and drinks will be available at the dog-friendly K-9 Caf. Net proceeds will be donated to local shelters and the SJCCC.

Humane organizations, local veterinarians and vendors selling pet-related wares and services are invited to participate.

If you are interested in joining the event committee or helping on the day of the event, contact Shelley McManus (910-3203, sksmcmanus@yahoo.com ) or Paula Clegg (588-8429, PugMomFL@gmail.com).

If you are interested in participating as a humane organization or as a vendor selling pet-related products, contact Carol Crane (283-7446, DogInfoLady@comcast.net) or Mimi Hollway (283-7861, holmim@aol.com).
