Local SCCA team wins at Sebring

February 26, 2014
Pine Island Eagle

Chad Jorgensen and his team finished first and second in two regional SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) races held at Sebring last weekend. Driving a mid-'90s Oldsmobile (former NASCAR ASA car) in the GTA class, Jorgensen ran two flawless races.

The event attracted over 300 competitors running in seven different groupings. GTA competitors are often running former NASCAR equipment, much of which is only a year or two away from the current offerings. The cars are very fast and quite capable on the 3-mile road racing circuit at Sebring.

Team members supporting Chad Jorgensen's efforts were Pine Island resident Dave Buettner, left, Greg Perkins and Ken Fulton. Jorgensen's wife, Kelly, is a native of Pine Island.
