Paul R. Williams, 79, of St. James City passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014. Born Feb. 17, 1934, in Kalamazoo, Mich., to Frank and Frances Williams, Williams attended Plainwell High School, graduating in 1952. He married Jane Rosenberg in 1952 and they had 61 years together. He was active in many civic activities and private clubs such as the Elks Lodge in Otsego, Mich., serving in all the chairs and was Exalted Ruler two years, serving on the board for many years.

He retired in 1996 and started spending time in Southwest Florida during the winters. In 2001 he moved into Pine Island Cove and became active there, serving on the board of directors for four years, three of which he was president.

He was currently president of the Men's Club, an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Moose Lodge.

Mr. Williams is survived by four sisters and two brothers, Jean Hammond of Kalamazoo, Shirley and Jerry Scott of Schoolcraft, Neala and Wesley Godding of Coon Rapids, Minn., Charlene and James Nooney of Plainwell, Don and Nancy Williams of Plainwell and James and Sharon Williams of Las Vegas; two children, Peggy and James Warnez of Plainwell and Paul Williams of Tennessee; two grandsons, Aaron and Erin Warnez and Daniel and Heidi Warnez of Plainwell; six great-granddaughters, Genevieve, Abigail, Lillian, Kennedy, Sarah and Finley; and many nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by his parents; brother, Walter; son, Daniel; and brother-in-law, George Hammond.

A memorial service will be held at the Pine Island Cove clubhouse Saturday, Feb. 8, at 2 p.m.
