The Greater Pine Island Lions Club will hold its 4th annual Raffle/Auction Feb.16, at the St. James Civic Center, 3300 4th Ave., St. James City, from 6-11 p.m. One $50 ticket includes a chance to win one prize of $1,000 (drawn last), 2nd prize of $500 and 3rd & 4th prizes of $100 each.

The ticket also includes a full buffet of fresh Florida shrimp (peel & eat), chicken wings (baked - not fried), and Hawaiian meatballs. There will also be many side dishes to choose from, snacks and several desserts.

During the evening there will be a live auction of numerous items gathered from all over the state, including an autographed baseball (documented and in plastic display case) from Tampa Bay Ray's pitcher Jose Lobaton; Miracle Baseball shirt, hat, decal and four box tickets; two St. Louis Cardinals tickets in St. Louis; a Denver Bronco's John Ellway jersey; four Florida Everblades tickets; two sets of two tickets for four different Disney Parks, for four different days; Tween Waters Inn, two nights three days in waterview room; Tarpon Lodge, one night stay; Beach House Lodge, two nights; Alden Pines, 18 holes & cart for two; Norman Love Chocolates gift certificate; and many, many more.

You do not have to be present to win the raffle money prizes, but we need you for the auction.

There is also going to be a smaller silent auction for those who prefer. Tickets are on sale, call Mary Von Burg at 239-283-9761. This is a "Bring your Own Bottle" affair; coffee and ice tea will be provided for the buffet. Ice is also provided.

Get your tickets early -- only 100 are for sale. This is the Lions Club's annual and only big money-making project for the year. Proceeds will be used to help islanders who cannot afford eye care, hearing exams and aids. The funds will also help the club maintain the park at 5th and Lemon behind the St. James City Civic Association. If you would like to help with the park project, call Mary Von Burg at 239-283-9761.
