Socialite leads MOTI’s Stroll Through Pine Island History

January 29, 2014
Pine Island Eagle

On Sunday, Jan. 19, over 100 people attended our first Stroll Through Pine Island History event hosted by the Museum of the Islands and the St. James City Civic Association. MOTI officials reported they were overwhelmed by the Pine Island community support for the stroll affair and wish to thank everyone who participated.

The subject of the event was early St. James City as seen through the eyes of a socialite. SJCCA President Sharon Astle was the socialite and added authenticity and humor to the presentation. She was dressed in a period costume, including a parasol, and her dialogue was quite witty.

MOTI's next Stroll Through Pine Island History is March 23 and will explore the Sisal Hemp and Development Company era from 1911-1914.
