Cape Coral Mayor Sawicki invited to meet with President Obama

Cape Coral Mayor Marni Sawicki has been invited to meet with President Barack Obama at the White House on Thursday, Jan. 23.

Sawicki will be in Washington D.C. representing Cape Coral as an attendee of the 82nd Winter Meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors. The annual winter meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors is Jan. 22 24.

Sawicki will join her fellow mayors for an afternoon of policy discussions with Senior Administration Officials and a conversation with members of the Cabinet. The afternoon will be highlighted by remarks from Obama followed by a reception in honor of the mayors.

"I am very excited about the opportunity to meet the President and spend time at the White House with other mayors from across the country," said Sawicki in a prepared statement. "I look forward to representing the City of Cape Coral at this meeting and having the chance to participate in policy discussions with federal officials."

The five potential policy discussions available are:

Strengthening Education and Workforce Development

Ensuring Access to Quality, Affordable Health Care for All Americans

Addressing the Impacts of Climate Change Locally

Utilizing Civic Technology and Innovation

Boosting Trade and American Exports
