‘Feed the Families’ wishes to thank the community

January 8, 2014

To the editor:

Pine Island's 'Feed the Families' program and participants want to thank our fantastic community for all the support we have received over the last year! The community, island associations, business and many individuals have provided food, materials, funding, support and volunteers for the free hot meals served Sunday evenings at 5 p.m.

For our special Christmas Dinner Party, a request for gifts for those attending was made. So many individuals responded donating gifts, that all those attending the dinner received two gifts each. Additional remaining gifts will be used as door prizes at future dinners.

There are too many organizations and individuals to name them all individually, but special thanks must be extended to those who consistently, week after week, go above and beyond in their support. Pine Island Community Church sponsors the program at 5320 Doug Taylor Circle. The Moose provides many prepared meals. Art's Farm Fresh Produce provides fruit and vegetables weekly. The Sandy Hook Restaurant assists with weekly clean up. Countless others donate, prepare and serve meals at the dinners. Thank you all!

Persons wanting more information or willing to donate their time, talents and/or food are encouraged to call the Pine Island Community Church at 239-283-9944, Elida Byard @ 239-829-0570, or Natalie Gazda @ 239-573-6075.

Everyone and anyone is invited to attend the dinners, every Sunday at 5 p.m.
