Former Statin Islander Marie Theresa Dutton, 86 of Bokeelia, a retired supermarket produce manager, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, in Cape Coral Hope Hospice after a short stay.
She was born Marie Theresa Dicks in New Brighton. She attended McKee High School and attended Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church, West Brighton.
During the 1950's she accompanied her first husband, William Parente, now deceased, to Hawaii, Texas and Germany, where he was stationed during the Korean War. She returned to New Brighton in the late 1950s and relocated to Florida in the early 1970s.

For three decades, Mrs. Dutton was a Shoprite supermarket dairy manager, heading up the chain stores on Statin Island and later Florida. She retired in the 1990s.
In her leisure time, Mrs. Dutton enjoyed playing bingo.
A son, William Parente, died in 1999.
She is survived by her second husband of 30 years, Walter Dutton; two sons, Thomas Parente and John Parente; two daughters, Vickie Allender and Cheryl Stone; three brothers, Thomas, Richard and Vincent; three sisters, Mary Patricia Dicks, Marie Jane Evans and Elizabeth Susan Brown; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Arrangements, including cremation, are being handled by Gallaher American Funeral Home, Fort Myers. A memorial service will be held on Statin Island at a later date.
