To the editor
On behalf of the Pine Island FISH organization, I would like to thank all of the generous individuals, organizations and churches that continue to support our efforts on behalf of the greater Pine Island area residents. As many of you are aware, the organization has been serving these residents for more than 27 years and we could not have done it without you!
We also want to recognize our more than 70 volunteers who give of their time (and gasoline) to assist our clients with transportation, emergency financial assistance, mobility equipment, respite and in touch services. None of our volunteers are paid and all assistance is provided to our clients at no charge.
Further, we continue to be the lead agency in the School Clothes for Kids and Christmas Basket Brigades. In August, a record number of area school children participated in the clothes program and as of this writing; we are continuing to sign up families and seniors to participate in our Christmas Brigade. The registration deadline for the Christmas program is Friday, Dec. 6.
As always, we continue to need volunteers. If you are interested in helping those island residents who need our services, please visit our website, pineislandfish.org, fill out a registration form and return it to PO Box 357, Matlacha, FL 33993. Or better yet, bring it to our next monthly meeting on Thursday, Jan. 2, at 3 p.m. in the Pine Island United Methodist Church.
We look forward to continuing our service to the island in 2014 and beyond with your on-going support.
Happy Holidays one and all!
