To the editor:
So many letters lately for Trey Radel to resign. Sometimes someone will fall from grace, get help and come back a better person. Lets wait and see. Not only admitting that he has a problem he is doing something about it. Patrick Kennedy who back in May 2006 crashed into the guard station on Capital Hill at three a.m. in the morning.(What was he doing out at that time in the morning?) He blamed it on drugs and sleeping aids he had taken. The officers thought he was high on something but we don't know what. Two Sergeants took it upon themselves to just drive him home. No arrest, no blood test, no breathalyzer (even though they thought he was intoxicated) - no court, no sentence. Three weeks earlier he was involved in another car crash in a pharmacy parking lot in Rhode island.
He did go to Mayo Clinic (twice) on the taxpayers' dime since he took a leave of absence. Did he donate his pay to charity while on leave? He also stayed in office until January 2011 when he announced he still needed help. (Reference CNN and USA Today-May 2006 & later). He was lucky no one was hurt in either incident.
Nobody hooted and hollered for him to resign. Maybe if Radel's name was Kennedy we wouldn't be reading all these letters.
